Athletics
Rancho Pico first students participate in lunch time intramural activities that include ping-pong, basketball hot shot shoot out, soccer shoot out, and a pickleball tournament. Students also represent Rancho Pico in the All District Junior High cross-country meet, basketball tournament, and track meet.

Ping-pong is played in the Fitness Lab every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 12:15.

Brown Bag Lunches
Advisor: Mrs. Ferry

Choral Music
Director: Ms. Peters

Auditions are held in Ms. Peter's room before school. THe choir does three concerts a year, participates in the district's choral festival and the Disneyland Magic Music Days Festivals

Dance Club
Advisor: Ms. Slayback

The Dance Club of Rancho Pico Junior High is a place to share and explore the joy of dance. There is an emphasis on hip-hop and jazz style dancing, but all movement genres will be explored. Cooperation and fun (not competition) are the key elements of the Dance Club. We teach one another and choreograph dances to share with our club and with the students and parents of Rancho Pico. Pureness of mind, body, and soul surround all aspects of the club. (There are requirements that must be met and maintained as a member. See Ms. Nelson for specifics.)

Guitar club
Advisor: Mr. Forbes

Meets on fridays at lunch. Bring your guitar and jam with Mr. Forbes and other students.

Intercollegiate Equestrian League
Advisor: Ms. Slayback

If you have a love of horses and can compete in riding compitions join the school's Equestrian team.

Instrumental Music
Director: Mr. Gilpin

Instrumental music at Rancho Pico got off to a great start its first year! A bold venture to an adjudicated band and orchestra festival in March met with success. The advanced band was described as "very professional" and "going in the right direction" by judges who awarded the band an Excellent rating. The orchestara even earned a Superior rating from one judge, although the overall average was Excellent. The Spring Concert in May culminated the outstanding first year these students had.

Journalism
Advisor: Mr. Bratt

The Journalism class publishes the school newspaper, four times a quarter.

Runners Club
Advisor: Ms. Stone

Pleasant off-campus jogs ranging from 2 1/2--3 miles. Anyone can join, but since it is off-campus a permission slip is required. Meets Thursdays after school--4:30.

Science Olympiad
Advisor: Mrs. WIlken

Runs from December to the end of February. Students prepare for a competition in various events on a college campus and earn a medal for the team. We meet twice a week during lunch and after school.
